TBT - The tinyiest puppy
Ally weighed barely 2 lbs, but she had a HUGE personality! This little girl was both extra sweet and feisty rolled into a tiny puppy. This is still one of our favorite outdoor puppy portraits of all time!

Denver May Snow - TBT
While the saying may be "April showers bring May flowers" you learn very quickly not to get too excited about planting flowers in Colorado in early May! More years than not (and this year was no exception), we see May snow in Denver. While many folks are done with the snow for the year and ready for warm spring weather, our dogs are overjoyed with these nice spring snowstorms. Plus, sizeable snows always make for great pictures when you have a very fuzzy dog (who loves the snow)! This is one of my favorite pictures of our Bearded Collie playing in a May snow (back in 2013).
Rescue Puppies - TBT
It's hard to believe that it's been 5 years since we had these two tiny and fluffy foster puppies in our home! These puppies only stayed with us for a few weeks (until they were old enough to find their forever homes), but this pair left us with many fond memories. They were especially fond of helping Mark take pictures!
I highly encourage you to think about fostering a dog or cat if you like animals and have some love to share. We fostered through Life is Better Rescue, but I know that there are many other wonderful animal rescue groups in the Denver and surrounding areas (some are all breeds and some are breed-specific) who are in constant need of temporary fosters.
Many people say they could not foster because they would get attached to the dog or cat. We've had some amazing foster puppies over the years and it was very difficult to let them go to their new homes. But, we were able to give them a place to stay and love when they had nowhere else to go.
Schaufele Family
We had such a fun family in over the weekend! The parents are in the process of moving to Italy, but wanted pictures of their whole family (including the family dogs) before they moved. So, mom & dad, teenage daughter, grown son and his wife in addition to their 2 miniature schnauzers came in for a photo shoot. We took pictures with the whole family, the parents with the dogs, the siblings together, and every other family combination possible. Their dogs were so easy to work with (especially when treats were involved!) and gave Mark happy smiles throughout the shoot. And the humans goofed off and had fun throughtout the session. It was fun to see their personality really come through in the pictures! This family was so fun throughout the entire photo shoot and the hour went by very quickly with them! They ended up with so many amazing pictures to choose from!
Studio Climate Control - Check!
If you ever visited Mark's old photography studio in downtown Denver, you may remember that it was a very cool, old building, but it had terrible climate control. This was very frustrating for us since we want each photo shoot to be a pleasant and enjoyable experience. Plus, it is important that we are able to keep the dogs who come to see us at a comfortable temperature, too, so that we can get the best pictures possible.
A proper climate control system was one of our top priorities when planning his new studio and it actually turned out to be more challenging that we anticipated. But, our new HVAC system was installed yesterday and we're looking forward to keeping all of our clients (furry and not so furry) comfortable all year round!
"You need professional pictures of your dog!"
Mark's had the privilege of photographing this lovely lady prior to fitness competitions in the past and he was thrilled when she contacted him about doing a photo shoot with her boxer, Dixie. After seeing the pictures from their session, she was overwhelmed. "Trust me when I say "get some professional pictures of your pets!" I'm sooo thankful for the work of Mark Stevens and his passion for dog photography!" These are pictures of her BFF that she will treasure forever.
If you've thought of having professional pictures taken of your pets in the past, don't put it off! Book your session with Mark now.
The Dog Trio - TBT
Frank (bulldog) and Piper (Yorkie terrier) were already clients of our studio when their family decided to add a new puppy (Charlie) to the family. As many families who have a new baby want to have professional pictures taken to highlight their new addition, this family wanted an updated family portrait with all 3 of their fur kids. They were a little uncertain about how the session would work with 3 dogs (at the same time), but they really wanted some new artwork for their living room that showcased the dogs together. We got to meet Charlie when he was around 12 weeks old and it was neat to see how well he already fit into the family with his big doggie brother and sister. This was a very fun photo shoot and we got lots of puppy loves and kisses! The finished pictures turned out simply beautiful and we were so happy to be able to continue to capture this family as they grew!
National Train Your Dog Month
January is National Train Your Dog Month! While Mark is happy to photograph dogs of all obedience levels, having a well behaved dog can make a huge difference for the day-to-day life with your family. We've had the privilege of working with several dog trainers in the Denver area over the past 9 years. We have a dog with some behavioral issues and have tried out multiple trainers to find the right fit for both us and his issues. We stumbled upon Matt Clark and he was incredible. He understood the issues we were facing and gave us an action plan and the confidence to work through our problems with our little guy.
Fast forward a few years and we added a rescue dog to our family to be a companion to our dog with issues. We were doing more off-leash hiking and wanted to get our dogs e-collar trained. We found Kris Mavis and this is one area she specializes in. We were actually surprised at how quickly we were able to e-collar train our dogs with Kris's input and training. She offers all levels of dog training from puppy obedience all the way up through more advanced skills.
Mark had the privilege of photographing Kris's two amazing dogs and they were some of the easiest dogs he's ever worked with!
