Our Paint Color Inspiration - the Fuzzy Grey Dog!
The drywall is finished and now we can paint! We decided on a gray color palatte and it just happens to match our fuzzy dog, Duncan! He seems to approve of the paint colors and of the new photo studio and had a nice afternoon supervising progress.
Denver May Snow - TBT
While the saying may be "April showers bring May flowers" you learn very quickly not to get too excited about planting flowers in Colorado in early May! More years than not (and this year was no exception), we see May snow in Denver. While many folks are done with the snow for the year and ready for warm spring weather, our dogs are overjoyed with these nice spring snowstorms. Plus, sizeable snows always make for great pictures when you have a very fuzzy dog (who loves the snow)! This is one of my favorite pictures of our Bearded Collie playing in a May snow (back in 2013).
Drywall is nearly done!
Progress continues on our new Denver family photography studio! The last lights have been installed and we are told that drywall will be completed later this week (knock on wood!). Then we can start painting and installing the flooring! The natural light in this studio is just amazing and Mark can't wait to start taking pictures in this new space. We picked up chairs for the lounge area last week and we hope to pick up another awesome furniture find (a desk) tomorrow in Park Hill. We're also deciding how to decorate with his artwork in the wall space available. He's still booking for appointments in the new studio starting in about 10 days, so book your session now to be one of the first clients to see his new photo studio! Our new studio is conveniently located to DTC, Greenwood Village, Lone Tree, Parker, Aurora and central Denver! It's crunch time for us, but we can't wait to show off the new photo studio!
Rescue Puppies - TBT
It's hard to believe that it's been 5 years since we had these two tiny and fluffy foster puppies in our home! These puppies only stayed with us for a few weeks (until they were old enough to find their forever homes), but this pair left us with many fond memories. They were especially fond of helping Mark take pictures!
I highly encourage you to think about fostering a dog or cat if you like animals and have some love to share. We fostered through Life is Better Rescue, but I know that there are many other wonderful animal rescue groups in the Denver and surrounding areas (some are all breeds and some are breed-specific) who are in constant need of temporary fosters.
Many people say they could not foster because they would get attached to the dog or cat. We've had some amazing foster puppies over the years and it was very difficult to let them go to their new homes. But, we were able to give them a place to stay and love when they had nowhere else to go.
We have some drywall!
Progress on our new Denver photography studio continues and the drywallers got started on the drywall this week! What a difference having the drywall up makes for the space! It is really starting to feel finished and we can't wait to start painting and get the flooring installed. We're still planning to book our first appointments in the new space starting in May, so book your family or pet photography session now in order to be among the first clients to see the new studio!
Schaufele Family
We had such a fun family in over the weekend! The parents are in the process of moving to Italy, but wanted pictures of their whole family (including the family dogs) before they moved. So, mom & dad, teenage daughter, grown son and his wife in addition to their 2 miniature schnauzers came in for a photo shoot. We took pictures with the whole family, the parents with the dogs, the siblings together, and every other family combination possible. Their dogs were so easy to work with (especially when treats were involved!) and gave Mark happy smiles throughout the shoot. And the humans goofed off and had fun throughtout the session. It was fun to see their personality really come through in the pictures! This family was so fun throughout the entire photo shoot and the hour went by very quickly with them! They ended up with so many amazing pictures to choose from!
More natural light - check!
We loved the original wall of windows in Mark's new photo studio so much that we decided to add more windows! They were installed yesterday and really open up the space. The new windows should also provide nice, even natural light for pictures. Insulation and drywall are next on the agenda and then the studio will really start coming together! We hope to be booking family portrait sessions in the new space starting in May - come see us and the new studio (in Denver)!
Studio Climate Control - Check!
If you ever visited Mark's old photography studio in downtown Denver, you may remember that it was a very cool, old building, but it had terrible climate control. This was very frustrating for us since we want each photo shoot to be a pleasant and enjoyable experience. Plus, it is important that we are able to keep the dogs who come to see us at a comfortable temperature, too, so that we can get the best pictures possible.
A proper climate control system was one of our top priorities when planning his new studio and it actually turned out to be more challenging that we anticipated. But, our new HVAC system was installed yesterday and we're looking forward to keeping all of our clients (furry and not so furry) comfortable all year round!
Stop and smell the flowers! TBT
The blooming crab apple trees are one of my favorite things about spring! Thankfully, due to the especially nice weather we've experienced in Denver this spring, they've stuck around for a couple of weeks now. Even when I'm in a hurry, I can't help but stop and smell the blossoms. I hope you are enjoying them as much as we do here!
Two years ago this little Munchkin was first introduced to the crab apple flowers and she's been a big fan of them ever since! This year she's old enough to attempt jumping to reach them.
Studio Flooring - Check!
Progress on our new photography studio continues and we were finally able to pick up the flooring yesterday! This grey wood plank floor will look great in your pictures and we can't wait to get it installed. Our little helper had a fun time helping us unload all the boxes!
