The MaxFund Photo Fundraiser was a Success!

Thank you to all who participated this last weekend in our MaxFund Photo Fundraiser! The event was fully booked and we had a great time raising money for the dogs and cats at the shelter. If you work with a local non-profit and would like more information on holding a similar fundraiser for your organization, please contact us to see if you are a good fit for our fundraising program. We love working with groups that benefit kids and dogs.

Beautiful Dogs at Work

Mark recently got to spend the afternoon with Cheryl, a German Shorthaired Pointer, who was getting ready for hunting season and brushing up on her hunting skills. While we commonly photograph family pets, it is also fun for us to capture the working dogs in their element. Cheryl was the picture of bird dog perfection through all her drills and she was incredible to watch. Do you have a working breed dog who has a job (herding, hunting, agility, etc.)? If so, have you ever considered having a professional portrait done of your dog while they are "working?" If not, then please consider it as this a wonderful way to remember your dog since they were designed to work and look beautiful while doing it.

Working with Active Dogs

We hear from people all the time "oh, my dog is too active and you won't be able to get a good picture of them." This is an area where Mark really excels. He doesn't just work with the "easy" dogs - he loves working the more challenging dogs, too. People are always impressed with what Mark is able to get their dogs to do during their session. It is not uncommon to hear "the dog never does that for me!" while Mark is working with the dogs. Mark has worked with dogs his whole life and has a whole bag of tricks that are sure to get the perfect portrait of your dog, no matter their energy level. Toby the Beardie is a great example. He is a 1 year old Bearded Collie and is full of energy! Not only was Mark able to get him to sit still long enough to take the pictures, but his family ended up with lots of great choices to choose from and were very happy with what Mark created for them.

Senior Dogs Photography

While November is the official Adopt a Senior Dog Month, there is no reason to wait until then if you are looking to adopt a new family member. There are many reasons people enjoy adopting older dogs including the fact that the dog has grown out of the puppy energy, they are house trained, and there will not be any puppy chewing to deal with. These older dogs make wonderful companions and really deserve to have a loving home of their own for their final years. If you are considering adopting a new dog, then please consider an adult or senior dog. If you decide on a puppy, then please adopt - don't shop! There are many beautiful older dogs like Olivia, below, looking for homes.

If you've had your dog their entire life, it is also nice to get a professional portrait taken of them to remember them by. We hear frequently from clients that they wish that they had booked a photography session for their last dog before it passed away. We work with many families who have dogs who have recently been diagnosed with diseases/illnesses and they want to have a portrait created while they are still able. Book your appointment today!

Sansa, a stunning doberman, came into the studio to have a dog portrait done and she brought her boy along for the day. Taking pictures of kids with their dogs is one of our favorite things to do! This picture captures it all and is one of our favorite shots of 2013!

Sampson's Photo Debut

We recently had the opportunity to travel to Los Angeles, CA to photograph Sampson. Sampson was rescued from a municipal animal shelter a few months ago. He stood out right away to his adoptive family: he was one of the only dogs not barking excessively or jumping at his cage. He was sitting patiently at the front of his cage, wagging his tail, and had the perfect "take me home with you, please?" look on his face. The rest is history. Sampson is such a good dog and a big ball of love. We had a fun afternoon capturing all his expressions. This is one of the favorite looks from the photo shoot.

Mr Fisher's Photo Shoot

I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to foster Mr Fisher, the Portuguese Water Dog puppy, while he was looking for his forever home. He was one of the best behaved dogs I've fostered and it was hard to let him go to his new family. Many photographers have a difficult time photographing black dogs, but I was confident that Mark would take a fantastic picture of this dog. And I was not disappointed!
