Photographing your child's milestones
We are frequently asked when are the best times to have professional portraits taken of babies. We know that kids grow very quickly and it's important to document the key milestones of their development. Here are the three most common times to come in for a portrait with our studio:
Newborns. To get a true newborn portrait, it is best to have your session during the baby's first 10 days. We will work with your schedule to make sure that we can see you during this time and give you suggestions for the day of your shoot to make the session go as smoothly as possible for everyone involved. Many families choose to have a new family portrait taken to include the newest member of the family at this time. We are happy to create portraits of all the siblings, of mom and baby, the new parents with the baby, or even your fur kids with the new baby.
6 Months. We find that we capture some really fun moments around the time your baby is able to sit up by themselves. The timing of this varies by baby, but it is usually around the 5-6 month mark. This is the time where they are very expressive and their personality really starts to show in the pictures.
1 Year. Many people like having their baby's 1 year birthday portrait done. This is perhaps the most common time to come in for a portrait after the newborn session. A lot of changes happen in the first 12 months and it's fun to see the little person they've grown to be. We have a lot of fun with the 1 year baby pictures and are happy to work with you on your specific ideas for this session. Some people choose to bring in a birthday cake for the baby to smash, their favorite toy, or families want one last chance for a naked baby picture. This is also a great time to update your whole family portrait!

Update Your Family Portraits
Have you recently added a new 2 legged or 4 legged family member to your family? If so, then this is a great time to update your family portrait! Whether you've recently had a new baby or adopted a new fur friend, we would love to create a new work of art for your home that captures your entire family.
Happy Valentine's Day!
We'd like to wish you and your furry friends a very happy Valentine's Day from Mark Stevens Photography (and Duncan, pictured)!
Charity Fundraisers
We love working with local non-profits and doing our part to give back to the community. We are looking to add 1-2 new charity partners in 2014. If your organization is a 501c(3) or 501c(6) and you are interested in trying a new fundraiser this year, then we'd love to speak with you to see if we would be a good fit. We especially love working with groups who help kids, pets and local families in need.
Corgi Puppy Portraits
Corgi Puppy Portraits
Peaches and her brother came in to have dog portraits done recently. Their family also wanted a nice portrait of the whole family for their living room (the people with the dogs). They ended up with lots of pictures to choose from! These Corgi pups are 4 months old and they were the best behaved 4-month old puppies we've ever had the pleasure to work with.
New date for holiday dog portraits added!
Due to popular demand, we've added one more dog portrait holiday event on December 1st at Kriser's Highlands Ranch. Sittings are $50/dog and 100% of the sitting proceeds will benefit MaxFund no kill shelter. Bring you dog(s) by for a portrait session with Mark. We'll have a variety of holiday props available or you are welcome to bring you own.
If you would prefer a portrait including the whole family - your dogs and kids, then please contact us for private session.
We offer custom holiday cards or gift prints just in time for Christmas!

Family Pictures with Dogs
We get calls frequently with people asking if we do photography of dogs with the family. The answer is YES! If you have always wanted a family portrait with all the family members - with 2 legs and 4 legs - then you've come to the right place. Creating a complete family picture with your pets included is something that we truly love to do and always have fun doing!

MaxFund Poster Dog
We did a puppy photo shoot for MaxFund recently and Smoochie was selected to be their poster dog! Isn't she the cutest? You can see her on the posters helping to promote raffle ticket sales at MaxFund and at their annual gala.
Horse Photography Shoot
We always get excited about the opportunity to get to photograph horses. This family was a pure delight! We photographed several of their horses at their farm outside of Denver and we spent the afternoon taking pictures of the children with their horses, the horses alone, and some group family portraits. The scenery was beautiful, the horses were stunning, and we ended up with lots of favorite photos.

Sansa and Her Boy
Sansa, a stunning doberman, came into the studio to have a dog portrait done and she brought her boy along for the day. Taking pictures of kids with their dogs is one of our favorite things to do! This picture captures it all and is one of our favorite shots of 2013!
